Human Nature and Grocery Stores

I’ve been reading about “retail choice” this afternoon. It’s all a little frustrating.

People don’t like when big chain supermarkets put smaller grocery stores out of business because it reduces their choice and makes shopping around more difficult. You can’t find the best price if there’s only one store to shop at.

At the same time, though, people actually don’t care for their local grocery stores, which compared to the supermarkets are dirtier, more expensive, and offer less selection.

Tangential thought: Do the elderly shop at grocery stores where you are responsible for bagging your own groceries? I don’t think I would, if I were that age and had a choice.
